who is eliza?
Eliza completed a Master of Art Therapy at Western Sydney University in 2024. She has worked with clients of a range of ages, genders, neurotypes, and mental health experiences.
Eliza brings a deeply relational, intersubjective lens to her work, which is a fancy way of saying she values treating you as a fellow human being, not as a patient. Relational art therapy involves valuing the process of sitting and being with someone, not just the final artwork.
why art therapy?
Eliza believes that art therapy, by nourishing our imagination and senses, can shift our perspective on our lives and help illuminate our broader place not just in the world, but as part of the world. It helps us to accept and reconcile contrasting, Othered parts of ourselves within a deeply supportive, caring space.
Art therapy is for anyone who wishes to become more creatively attuned to their emotions and the world around them. There is no age or skill limit to art therapy. Art therapy is about self-expression and self-exploration.
Importantly, art therapy does not involve Eliza interpreting your art. That is for you and you only.
why ‘spiracle’?
A spiracle is a mechanism in insects by which they essentially breathe through their skin. It invites thought about being in direct exchange with our environment, spirals of breath and experience, art as spirit, the idea of being alive as a miracle, and kinship with even the smallest, exoskeletal animals.
